Dead Pixles after one year March 4, 2010 Mark C. Bradford (California) After a year TV pixles die and not covered by manuf DO NOT buy insurance through CPS Central because you get ripped off. Once it is determined the TV is bad CPS Central makes you ship the TV back before a replacement is shipped and the cost of shipping is extremely high and you loose on ther replacement value.
Buyer beware Buy another Brand of TV not samsung March 3, 2010 M.S. (NEW YORK) I purchased a samsung 50" plasma tv on march 14 2008 and it started makeing a sparking sound in january of 2010.picture went out on february 14 2010.TV repair tech says it will cost $700.00 to repair. A $1300.00 dollar tv should last more than 23 months.this is not uncommon on samsung tvs.do your research before buying one.Don't get ripped off like I did.
Good TV for the price but.......watch your burn ins!!! November 29, 2009 Jeremy (Indpls. IN) I got this TV back in March 2009. Love it, Amazon shipped it fast. Been watching Blu-ray movies on it for a while and OMG!!! the picture quality is amazing for a 720p. I watch a lot of shows and play games on it. This is where I mean watch the burn ins. I was playing a game for a little of an hour and notice when I turned it off that I could see a ghost image still on the black screen. Also me and my wife were watching something on TLC for a while. Well in the bottom right corner there is "TLC" stamped there through the whole show. After it was over, TLC was still there. It has been 4 days and I can still see the TLC logo, and some of my game burn in. Ive done all the burn in options time and time again and it looks like its fading away but still there. I don't regret buying it because it has such a great picture for the price. But when I do buy another TV it will be a LCD. I will talk to Amazon to see what I need to do because I have a protection plan.
Still Great after 11 months November 18, 2009 Susan (Boston, MA United States) Got this TV for our family room for Christmas 2008. Its been in high use since then (PS3 and WII games played by the kids and lots of plain old TV watching). Neither my husband nor I am particularly talented when it comes to dealing with technology issues and we had zero problem setting this up and getting it going on our own. I had been warned about "burn in" from the video games -- but its not been a problem (I did make the kids wait about a month and a half to break it in before hooking up the video games). At the time I paid just under $1000 for it and thought I had gotten a great deal. I was looking today for a smaller flat screen to buy for my mom (who covets our TV) and find that this one is available now for only $730!! What a deal!!! I might have to get another one. I should mention that I purchased it from Amazon last year (they had the best price that I could find anywhere -- even at the last minute holiday sales -- and it came with "white glove" delivery service (they would have set it up if we had wanted them to -- but since we didnt' want it set up they did lug it into the house and help us get it out of the box (they disposed of the packing for us) and safely hidden away. I can't say enough about how easily everything went.
Good picture for the money, but worrying about burn-in is a PITA August 21, 2009 E. Heintz 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This TV has a good picture, but it's a little dim even with the settings turned up, and there's always that fear of burn-in. I had a logo stuck in the bottom corner for a couple days and it made me wish I'd bought an LCD. It eventually went away, but now I have to keep my settings turned down and I have to constantly worry about what I'm watching. If you have the money, buy a good LCD.
